A seventh overall pick in the 2006 Major League Baseball (MLB) Amateur Draft, Clayton Kershaw has been a pillar of the Dodgers' starting rotation since his MLB debut in 2008. With a career record of 126-60, he has posted a sub-3.0 earned run average (ERA) in the past eight seasons. During that time, Kershaw has won three Cy Young awards as the best pitcher in the National League.
Kershaw won his first Cy Young in 2011 after posting a 21-5 record to go along with a 2.28 ERA and a league-best 248 strikeouts in 233.1 innings. Two years later he won the award for a second time, backed by a league-leading 1.83 ERA. The following year, in 2014, Kershaw had a career-best season in which he won both the Cy Young and Most Valuable Player (MVP). He finished the season with a 21-3 record, while recording a 1.77 ERA. Kershaw recorded all 30 first-place votes for the Cy Young and 18 of 30 votes for the MVP.
